What odd driving laws do have in your area? Here in New England the state of Vermont the double yellow line is only a suggestion-you can cross and pass if you want and it is clear-I think PA is the same.
in PA cross the double yellow pay the fine!
but it is legal to make a LEFT turn on a red light
Many states have silly ambiguous differences. Some you can make a "left or U" only if there's a sign allowing it.
Some states do not allow "right after stop on red."
Idaho is playing with a new traffic light that goes against all previous logic.......a flashing yellow left arrow.
You stop at the left arrow on red, go on green. But after a period, the arrow STARTS TO BLINK YELLOW. Now what I was taught is, that a blinking yellow means you can go through WITH CAUTION, but the OTHER DIRECTION has to stop. What this doesn't take into account is "facing traffic."
It makes zero sense to me, and it's only a matter of time........
YouTube - MDOT explains flashing yellow left-turn signal
basically as follows - a flashing yellow arrow is the same as a regular green light (no arrow) being you can turn but you yield to oncoming traffic..... common sense.!
Dude you got this one wrong for PA, actually you just didn't post the complete rule --- The rule is:
section a: You can always make a right turn on a red light, unless otherwise posted.
section b: You can make a left turn on red but only when on a traveling on a one way street making a left onto another one way street.
To me, it's NOT common sense, because a FLASHING YELLOW has NEVER meant "YIELD."
You're right about one thing----I think the arrow should go out and a "regular green" should come on.
The DOT engineers that thought this up should have one of the damn things installed --permanently flashing-- right above their bed.
65 in a posted 55 in AZ is not speeding, it is wasting a finite resource....at least that is the ticket I got...

Yep, wasting gas. When the DPS officer gave it to me he had to explain it to me twice, I was laughing so hard about half way thru his explaination I could not follow what he was saying. Did not think to ask about coasting down hill....like excessive fuel consumption?
then what if you are coasting down a very long steep hill?
so if you are doing 65 in a solar powered electric car you cant get a ticket
.... it was illegal to drive barefoot!.....
