Oil priming fresh built /6

Is there a way to prime a fresh built /6? Mine has been sitting on a stand for a while waiting on installing in truck.

I took the cover off the oil pump and packed the rotors inside with Vaseline

Good idea, but is there a way to get the oil to flow thru the system? Want to avoid scoring the dry cylinders.

That's what I did too. You can also crank it with the spark plugs removed.

I sprayed Fogging oil in each cylinder to protect. Research it.

Pull the plugs and give them a shot of oil.

Another oil pump with no gear on it? That’s what I did with a flathead 8 I rebuilt last year.

pushing oil in threw the gauge port. can use something as simple as a large piece of pvc and clear hose ( just keep the pressure LOW ).

I pre-oiled my / with a cheap pressure pot (bug sprayer) form Home Depot, rigged up an adapter at the oil pressure out fitting (at the oil pump), put a quart or two of your break in oil in the pressure pot, give it a few strokes, not too many, and go find something to do for around 30 minutes or so. wouldn't hurt to pull the plugs and give each cylinder a squirt and pull the engine through a few times. Crank her up!

As long as you use a good quality assembly lube, you can turn it over with the plugs out until it gets pressure and it'll be fine.
