Been a Chrysler guy since my mom had her 67 Fury III when I was a kid. I had friends who were ford and chevy so I picked Chrysler cause I liked things a tad more difficult. It really has defined my life since. Not sure if it was because I chose the car or if it possibly chose me but the more obstinate path have I been on ever since.

Started with my sister getting a Dart Swinger, which she hated and still hates to this day though it has long since departed. I then got a 73 Duster, 318, 3 speed and I LOVED it. This went into some import stuff,,, get this, Triumph Spitfire import, no dang Japanese rubbish. This led me to road racing sports cars in the SCCA which led me to pro road racing cause I was petty good. My first pro ride was with the Vector car company, yeah, I drove the Vector M12 Lite, it was really a stunt to shake down share holders I suppose but I was doing the best I could to support the team's racing efforts. Randy Pobst called me the "Bravest guy he'd ever met" after watching me hustle that turd around Road Atlanta. I told him I had nothing to loose and I had to show myself to some folks if I ever wanted another ride.

I did get more rides, Vipers for a while, from factory prototypes to full on Oreca customer cars, I drove them all. I really liked them when they were right and relished the challenge of wrestling them around when they were less than optimum. The factory team drivers named them "Lawn Darts" for their penchant of spinning their rear tires with their 8 litres of insanity then looping the vessel around to plant it's posterior deep into whatever it could find. I never buried one but did have a couple incidents that were interesting. I still Love that damn unruly beast and have actually recently bought a rather unloved RT10 Gen II car. My first drive told me I had found my love. I am a Mopar guy at heart and a Viper guy to my soul.

So I am finishing up a decade plus long project on an A100 pickup. The rust repair was insanity and the painting has been brutal. I have all the major stuff done and having to take the engine out right before I painted the bottom led me to the point where I have seemingly little choice but to put in a new hemi in place of the 318. Doing a really healthy 318 would have been a bit cheaper but this way will be sure enough nice, The new Hemi just will bend the wow meter needles a bit further than the much maligned 5.2 ever could. I'm probably going to have to sell this when it;s done much to my dismay so it has to check all the cool boxes for the buyers, And the time I get to drive it need to be exhilarating, The package I chose should cover that nicely, AC, Fuel Injection, and yeah, I should mention 400 or so HP. Thinking that should move the little 90" wheelbase 3.91 geared snub nosed thing right spectacularly. We will all know soon enough.

The paint is largely done and assembly is creeping up on us, not much let to collect as far as gems go to start the assembly phase,

SO I've collected pieces and parts to do front and rear disk brakes. The adapters are done for the front and I only have one to do for the rear. Should have that buttoned up pretty quickly. The engine is ordered and on it's way. I will control the NAG1 transmission either with the available system from the northwest or I will do something on my own with a logic controller, some switches and plumber's paste if necessary. I'm just worn out hearing how hard it is to make the NAG work. It's just a few solenoids and it can't be that hard, just different than the GM and Ford stuff, Like I already mentioned, different is my thing.

The top and bottom are painted and the little pieces are mostly squirted as well. Just some hardware to zinc coat and we'll be up and ready to start assembling. I ran out of UHMW plastic this evening making suspension bushings but I will have more material soon and that project will be done. It's largely ready to start tossing it together. It's gonna come a long way from this.

That's how the homely little devil looked when I flew out to drive it home from Kansas to Florida!!!!! The seller had no reason to think it would make it either,

Welcome, sweet truck and nice job, love the 2 tone paint colors :glasses7:

Of course, it had to get worse before it got better, and I can assure you, it travelled that path with some serious resolution.

Well thanks 66340. I always wanted an A100 and have worked far too many hours making this one as nice as it can be. It will have a 5.7 hemi, and the 5 speed automatic. AC and yadda yadda yadda when it's done, really too nice for just a clunky old pickup. But it will be a nice clunky old pickup. I could have done the 318 for a few hundred less dollars with similar performance numbers but the golly geepers factor with the new hemi just won me over. It hurt, I promise it hurt a lot to spend the extra money for the new engine but what's a man to do. The original engine, though very sound, was only 6.95 to 1 compression, and the heads had exhaust valves receded about .070 into the heads I was stuck in a quandary, patch it, fix it right, swap it to magnum stuff, or swap it to a new hemi. I struggled for a week and came up with the Hemi swap as my only real choice.
