one hit wonders

Love this song.

"Come On Eileen" may have been the only "hit" from Dexy's- I think it was used in a John Hughes movie or something -but that whole album (Too-Rye-Ay) is fantastic.

Likewise, Men At Work ("Who Can It Be Now?"/"Down Under") got thought of as something of a novelty band, but that whole album is quite good.

Here's another example: The Hooters ("All You Zombies"/"And We Danced"). Nervous Night was the album, again- really good stuff. The leader of that band wrote and produced several hits for Cyndi Lauper.
you are correct sir! This is my genre of music to boot. Someone put Gary Numan on the list and he's definitely not a one hit wonder Check out his album Replicas. Go to a Numan/Tubeaway Army show, he normally won't play "Cars" which is fine by most. Asia and Red Rider may have gotten limited airplay but Asia's eponymous album and RR's As far as Siam are both excellent albums.

One of my favorites...

How about the song/band that launched MTV? The Buggles, "Video Killed the Radio Star." Pretty prophetic.

I want some of whatever you're smokin' :hippy2:

You're either too young to remember, or, see above.

As I recall, you were either a girl who liked "The Bay City Rollers", or you were a guy who liked "KISS". I don't seem to recall any middle ground. I mean, really, plaid pants with white cuffs that were too short?

But, thankfully, they just kinda disappeared.:read2:
