Your almost totally correct.Restomd was the other term that I was thinking about. No, The only 340's that had the 340 6 pak was the challenger, I believe that it was the roadrunner and chargers that had the 440 6 pak. Some people believe that the hemi had the 6 pak option, but they didn't.
They sorta tried with the Mr Norms sticker in the quarter windowYour almost totally correct.
The AAR Cuda and the Challenger TA came out with the six pack setup. However Mr Norm put the six pack on the demons prior to his going with the Paxton superchargers for the GSS. Now what would be neat is if they said this was a Mr Norm tribute car. But I don't know if they could get away with the 360 instead of a 340 on that.
A Mr. Norms shouldn't count as they were never a production vehicle, they were a modified aftermarket car. 340 6 pak was not available in the demons. They sorta tried with the Mr Norms sticker in the quarter window
For it to be a Mr Norm clone 340 6pack demon it would have to have the twin hood scoops and Mr Norm's air cleaner assembly on it.They sorta tried with the Mr Norms sticker in the quarter window
This is good news for my 72 numbers roadrunner 340, learning as I go here... September 71 date casting, and a -2 suffix means an early cast in the mold? Long story for why/how I have this car... that's for saleI understand completely. Keep in mind though, not all 72s had the cast crank. From September 71 to about April of 72, those still had the steel crank. So if it's that first half of 72, it's probably steel. The heads of course would be small (1.88) valves. Of course, these cars are so old, anything's possible now.
Correct. -2 would mean the 2nd mold run of that particular year. Pretty early for sure and I bet it has a steel crank. Can you get a look at the balancer? If it does not have an external weight, it's a steel crank. If you can get us a good picture, we might can confirm it.This is good news for my 72 numbers roadrunner 340, learning as I go here... Well, that's no doubt a forged crank balancer!Power steering pump makes it tricky, shots from both sides & behind

Isn't it the second rebuild of that particular mold?Correct. -2 would mean the 2nd mold run of that particular year. Pretty early for sure and I bet it has a steel crank. You know, I'm not 100% sure. You may well be right.Isn't it the second rebuild of that particular mold?

Doesn't have the right grill for 72, it has the mesh and brackets installed, the headlight bezels are available repop so tracking down a center section is the challenge. Original color was petty blue...not sure why the PO went with Limelight. It's a head turner though. Got it from a Mecum auction this summer, so I know all too well the ills of buying at auction. Wasn't advertised as a #s car, found that out after I got it, bonus. Early cast block & steel crank, bonus. Google the VIN there are some pre-resto pics. RM23H2R213143Show us a picture of the RR.
All when it has "360" cast right into the side of the block. lolAs an update on the original theme, the (consignment) dealer messaged me "good news!" that their expert confirmed it's a 72 340 motor... So I dug into how that could be the case.
It was because "he ran the numbers" ...perplexed, I showed him all the block identifiers on what just happens to be my 72 #s 340 Roadrunner, fender tag, etc. I told him his guy's not an expert and that I'm out. I'm just not into dealing with folks who will parrot information without research. Appreciate all the insight on this thread.
The expert said "that doesn't mean anything"All when it has "360" cast right into the side of the block. lol

They should just admit its a 360 why lie about it? A 360 can be an excellent engine when built right. There is no reason to incorrectly represent the car. I don't blame you for moving on thats complete crap. And your '72 RR sweet car!!As an update on the original theme, the (consignment) dealer messaged me "good news!" that their expert confirmed it's a 72 340 motor...
