Opinions on TTi Exhaust systems (not headers)?

I never got a video & sound but the 3" TTI system with X-pipe and ending at the rear axle of my race car always got a lot of compliments in the pits and on the track. (Mid-low 11's @ 115-117) I originally had Dynomax Ultraflo mufflers but it seemed like they rusted through quicker than they should have. They did quiet it substantially over open headers. I replaced them with Dynomax Bullet mufflers which made it slightly louder. However, I do believe that cars that are not driven on a regular basis tend to attract rust quicker in the exhaust system and it was kept in a trailer, not a garage. Had to tweak & ding the X-pipes for driveshaft loop clearance. I liked it so much that I installed a similar system on a Dodge Aspen wagon race car (which has been sold). Street driving may not be too bad if you don't have overly nit-picky neighbors or police. 2.5" and tailpipes will probably quiet it a bit more.

I just installed a 2.5 H pipe system manifolds back on a '71 340 Demon. Had to cut 5 inches off of the rear of the mid pipes to get the mufflers to fit. The hangers did not line up with the seat belt bolts so I had to drill new holes. All joints done with band clamps.

In the end, I used a pair of universal hangers so that I could utilize the band clamps between the mufflers and tail pipes. All in all it went very smoothly and fit well.
The reason you had to cut, as did I, was because the kit is made for both 111" and 108" wheel base cars. I think the instructions even tell us that.

given the sound I heard in the clip above I am now leaning towards the 2.5" for the reasons I mentioned earlier...fitment mainly, and lower cost. Plus if the FM 40's sound like that then thats exactly what I am looking for.

I have a decently upgraded 360 I am dropping in it.
3" would be tooo big for that motor. 2.5" is a much better choice. And for me, drone is drone, it sucks and is super annoying even if you only drive your car 10 minutes a week. Dynomax sound pretty good too.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Such a great forum! Going with the TTi 2.5" exhaust H pipe system and will decide on mufflers later on in the process. TTi is such a good company. Were really helpful with all my questions.

I'm installing the 2.5" kit from TTI on my 72 Demon. I'm almost done just waiting on some tips I ordered. There was some cutting of excess pipe, but that's required on this kit. It fits nicely, and the mandrell bends are top of the line. I highly recommend TTI. I am using the TTI shorty headers with the TTI down pipes.

OK, 1st; Go with 2.5" pipes, especially on a small block.
2nd; be careful in choosing the mufflers. Check the exterior and the interior resonance [sound]. It may seem cool to hear that deep throaty rumble. However, inside when you're driving you'll have to crank the radio up to hear it and any passengers will have to yell. There are many types of mufflers available in most brands.
I have a 340 Duster with a full TTI 2.5" system and chose the Dynamax
My brother has a 440 GTX with stock manifold and went with 3" pipes. He had to use spacers between. He chose the Flomasters and, as I stated, radio cranked and hard to have a conversation.
