Outrageous shipping fee from Mancini Racing

The way I see it, as a business if they have to create "paperwork" in any way, they are entitled to make profit(or not) from that.
No different than a General contractor and the sub trades.

Kind of like bringing in parts from Rock Auto. I always check where the parts are being shipped from. Same location > that's fine, 3 parts 3 different shipping locations that is not fine. Sends the price of everything up a lot when they use multiple shippers.

I mean sure, it’s their business and they can do what they like.

But like anything else I don’t have to do business with them either. This isn’t the mail order catalog days anymore, and there’s nothing Mancini has that I can’t get somewhere else. So I’ll get it somewhere that’s more convenient and less expensive inmost cases.

I don’t really get being pissed at Mancini because they do spell out their arcane policy right on their website. But in this particular century I don’t understand why they still have that policy. Not my problem either way, if they don’t like making money they can be non competitive and eventually will get run out by one of the larger retailers. A shame, but yeah, not my problem.

As I said its laughable to expect instantaneous shipping quotes, then "ignore" the note option, then squawk about what shipping costs were.
THEN say its now bad business practice to run their business the way they do??
Maybe its bad purchasing practice to not read before hitting the buy button.
And yes this still is mail order catalog, just the newer version, 2.0.
I won't shop from Mancini for other reasons, but this whole shipping complaint is laughable.

If you say so. Every other company I do business with has a shipping quote right on the online shopping cart and I can know ALL of the totals and even choose the shipping method without any silly notes or waiting for call back.

I get you’re in Canada and international shipping is a different ball game, but, we’re not talking about international shipping here.

I don’t get being pissed about it either way, but I certainly don’t get Mancini not understanding that they’re losing business by not joining the current century.

Mancini should upgrade their systems to auto calculate shipping during online ordering like every other online vendor out there does. That would provide improved customer experience and get them more sales. This isn't 1980 anymore. I like Mancini because they are mopar only parts and would like to see them thrive and survive. I bought some things from them not long ago and did not pay any attention to shipping cause I had too many other things going on at that time. Correct parts showed up I went about what ever so don't recall shipping. So I don't know if shipping was excessive or not....

Yea I hear that all the time, somehow we dealt with things back then.

Yeah, you broke out your rotary phone and called the business you saw advertising in the car rag you were reading or out of the catalog that you had to call and have sent to you. And you ordered your parts, and gave them your credit card. And yeah, you probably had to wait for them to call you back and tell you what shipping would be, because they had to take the damn thing down to the post office or shipping broker and have it weighed.

But every shop did it that way. That was just how it was. Hell most of the time you probably went to a place in person, and they had the parts on the shelf!

What you couldn't do is go on a website, add your parts to your cart and type in your zip code and have the entire thing ready to go knowing exactly what you're going to pay before you give out your credit card information or have someone box up your order and have it weighed. But you CAN do that now, at the majority of places that compete with Mancini.

Things are different now, for better and for worse, sticking your head in the sand doesn't change that.

Ahh, the days of instant gratification.
Remember the days of mail order... allow 4 to 6 weeks delivery and be happy if it came in sooner? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

The part of the argument that most other businesses allow you to see the total price, including shipping is enough for me. If other businesses can do it, then so can Mancini. But like @crackedback said, if you don't like how they do business, buy from someone else. That's what I do.

Who wants to pony up for the cost of that real time integration is another factor. Running those system isn't free either. Streamlining I'd bet has been considered, at what cost? That is the magic answer.
Other than providing mancinis with some outside input about the process, the whining about why they don't do it and others do... MEH. Tits on a boar!

Pick your parts, pay your money

Summit is an hour up the road
I'd live in the return section if it was 3hrs or less from me. Bargains galore!

On another note, don't businesses/business addresses get big discounts on shipping?

I send something to a business, big or small, and it costs way more than them sending it back to me.
