I've never done much painting but I cleaned, primed, and repainted my ralleye wheels with ralleye silver. Should I sand them down now with 600 or 900 paper, compound them, or leave them alone? Does a clear coat finish do anything for them? Thanx, Tom

What did you paint it with?

Rattle can? - leave it as is
Base coat? - must be cleared within the top coat window or you'll have to sand, rebase and clear
Single Stage Enamel or Urethane - can be cleared but not necessary

If you want to sand and buff, don't go coarser than 1500 wet and only do that if you used Urethane or Enamel, the rattle can stuff won't hold up to that. 600 - 800 grit is pre-paint grit, to coarse to buff out generally.

There aint a lot of paint in a spray can. They might tell you 1 can covers 4 wheels. "Covers" is about all it does. To apply more coats of paint will serve better than a clear coat.
