Now that I am replacing the gas tank on my 70 Duster, what kind of paint or coating should I use? I am thinking of going with flat black, but what did you all use? I want it to look good (duh) but I also want to protect it from road grime. Thanks!

I used east wood gas tank silver galvaning paint and rubberized undercoating where the factory undercoating was

I just saw that paint in the catalog last night. I think it`s a zinc based paint to prevent corrosion. Sounds like a winner, that`s what I`m going to use on my tank .

I used Rustoleum Hammered Silver from a rattle can. I primer sealed the tank first. I think it looks great and I can touch it up at any time. BTW it was a brand new tank to start out with. You can spray the Rustoleum on anything.

Same here.... Rustoleum Hammer tone. Quick, cheap, and effective.
