passport for canada?

I finally said screw it and got a Nexus pass, took about 2 weeks once interviewed. Well worth the money just for the non hassle at the boarder. I would get nd pulled in for integration & vehicle search about 9 out of 10 times crossing. 0 times with Nexus so far, cruise right through.

As I recall there was an expediting fee on top of the normal fee, something like $20 or $30 when my wife did it but if you need it you need it.

yea it was something like that. my sister had to haver hers back quick and i think thats around what it cost her.

i never thought about it when i was younger but a passport is just something you should get. just to have. they are good for 10 years (less if under 18 ) and ya never know when ya may need it. got my 13 year old at the time his when we went to aruba a couple years ago and got my 1 year old hers early last year.

I go places so I need one. My last one was stamped on every page at least once. Some countries require a visa on top of the passport for you to visit it too.

How long does it take to get a passport now? The Postal facility I used to work at used to be able to do the applications, pictures and all. From what I remember, and it was 4 years or so, it took upwards of 4 months to get a Passport. Unless you wanted to pay close to double for the "rush" service....

I would figure the big crunch for passports from the stricter travel requirements is over by now so it should be back to the 6 weeks that it was prior to the changes. I took about 6 weeks back in the early 90's for me to get my first one and when I renewed it in the early 00's it took about a week and a half. Renewing is much easier get the on line form fill it out, get new pictures and send it in with your old one and the fee.
