Any one run one? Any improvement you noticed? Have you had issues? I have the simple Ignitor on my Swinger and it has worked flawlessly. It is a simple replacement for a set of points and condenser. I brought multispark up on the spark plug gap thread and thought I might ask here.

Hey,

I'm running the II on my /6. Did not need a rev limiter as I have a MSD 6AL. Is there a III for Mopars? I can say that the II works great. The pedal is very crisp and starts right now. Sorry not the answer you needed but you get a bump!

I ran the II on my dart. Worked perfectly for about a year and then started randomly dropping cylinders. Got rid of it and went Mopar electronic with an old orange box. Haven't looked back.

Thanks fellas. Ya, I was hoping on comments on the III simply because it's a multi-spark. The 2 and 1 aren't. I will have to check if the 3 is available for Mopars. No reason why it shouldn't be.

The real question should be: if Ignitor III multi sparks in that tiny packkage, why haven't other companies offered similar multi spark modules?? It would be a HUGE selling feature...& lots of sales.

I think it is BS. Not even Pert can defeat the laws of physics.
The III module cannot be capacitor discharge ign because CD requires a larg-ish transformer & larg-ish capacitor. That is why the CD igns come in a box, to house these large components.
Inductive igns run out of time to charge the coil at higher rpms. This is why dual point dists were invented to lengthen the dwell angle at higher rpms & give the coil enough time to fully saturate. GM used variable dwell with HEI to achieve the same thing.

Like everything else today, the distributor should do nothing but trigger a box.

You can use points and a box and not lose any power. You just have to maintain the points.

Any mag trigger or light will fire a box.

I run a pertronic # III on my barracuda 273 and other mopars. never had an issue with Pertronic III or others.

I've got two Petronix III units, one in a single point housing & one in a dual point housing.... Both have had the advance reworked... They both have worked flawlessly for years... instant starts, pull cleanly to 6K fairly regularly...

My 340 doesn't have a petronix, it's a MSD billet distributor & a 6AL... It's been 6500+ on many occasions...

The biggest issue that I consistently see with the Ignitor III is that the multiple sparks make it hard to get a good tach signal. It ought to have an extra tach output wire added for this purpose. Also, being an inductive ignition, the follow up sparks are much less powerful than the primary. I doubt it is a worthwhile upgrade over the Ignitor II.
