Hi everyone,

Thought I would start up my build thread of the vip.

It is a 1970 Valiant, VG VIP.

Out of the VG range the VIP was the luxury model.

It is in need of bit of a restoration! but it is going 40+ Years now!

That is one interesting vehicle, especially the front end. Unless it has been well camouflaged, I don't see much rust coming through to the outside, mostly just inside.

By the way, when you get around to dealing with the sound system, I know someone who can provide you with a neat little bracket to install dual speakers under the dash grille. :hello2: And he has just recently sent two brackets to your fair country.

Good luck with the project...

Thanks, a bit of work in the rust to get fixed but it will be done properly and not dodgy fibreglass repairs like what has been done!

Can you put up some photos of a set up already done like that? with the speakers etc.

Nice.

There was a ute in that body style for sale over here a few years ago (10K, IIRC) couldn't quite afford it at the time.

High mounted signal lights WAY before they became popular.

That crush can on the steering column looks suspiciously like an E body unit.

This arrived today from the states!

:D Not bad for $400 Landed when people over here want $800 to reco an original radiator!

Cool car! I agree with dodgeboy, there was a lot of hidden rust. But it looks like yer doing it right!! I really like the "in-fender" signals!
