Hillbilly, if I had a feeling, I just might have been O- fended. That was my brother and my nickname growing up. But I learned long time ago to leave my feeler at home.

Hillbilly is a term for people who dwell in rural, mountainous areas in the United States, primarily in the Appalachian region and Ozarks. As people migrated out of the region during the Great Depression, the term spread northward and westward with them.

The usage of the term hillbilly as a descriptor receives mixed perceptions, often in part due to the nature in which it is used. It may be used in in-groups as a point of pride, while others consider its usage derogatory, especially when used as an insult.[1]

My family is German Settlers that settled in the Hills of Kentucky (Edlin Hill) nearly
200 years ago. I spent a fair amount of my youth there and owned a farm
there for many years. My cousins still live on the same farm yet - that our ancestors
settled on back them.

We live now in Boulder City on the top of "B" Hill next to the community
Horse Stables/Rings and we raise Chickens and sell eggs to local town people.
You can go out our back gate and you are on BLM land and go 50 miles or more
a couple different directions and not see another house or anything else except
for some abandoned Silver Mines.

Indeed we are indeed Hillbillys as well as Desert Rats.
When we say "Hillbilly" - We say it with Pride!

When other folks direct that term towards us with Malice and/or Distain = Well we just smile and let our cars
do the talking for us.
