I put a pistol grip shiter in my barracuda that my dad had. Its a little to short for me. I want to lengthen a little. My dilemma is do i cut & lengthen this one or buy a new one. The one i have is an original one out of a challenger r/t. The only way i would consider selling it is if i can get enough out of it to pay for a new one. Some might say im crazy for cutting up an original shifter.

I would look for a 71-74 B body bench seat pistol grip handle, and not modify the E body handle if it were mine.

Here is what i did. I made a spacer. I took a piece of steel about 3 1/2 in long. Drilled two holes to blot it to the mech. & two to bolt it to the handle. That gave me the length i wanted & the boot just covers it

I bought one that was already cut on for heap and welded what I needed to it. Boot covers it.

I built this adapter.
I used it to bolt on a new shifter at the correct (better) angle. The boot covers it nicely.

I’m not sure which Barracuda you have the shifter for, but I bought this extension from Passion ($60?) to install this custom stainless shifter into a 69 with console. I believe this is a reproduction of factory piece for 71-74 mopar with a pistol grip. Anyway, it lifts the shifter a couple inches and could be covered by a boot. Hope this helps.
