The pittman arm on my 66 Coronet tests good, but the seal was ripped up. rather than spent 100+ on a new arm, I'm trying a tie rod end seal from, believe it or not- Help!
They sell a pack with one each of 2 different sizes for about 5 bucks.
Can't remember if it was Advance or AutoZone.
It fits pretty good and is tight to the outside of the round part of the arm, but it doesn't have the metal part that fits under the stud and completes the seal like the factory.
I just torqued it down last night and put some grease in it.
So far, so good, and it has to be at least as good as the foam washer Moog sent with the idler arm, with the note that says "lube every 1200 miles".
I was advised to try an energy suspension part, but they are $20 each plus shipping, and are the exact same shape, but red (and probably poly).
EDIT- the box end, or the center link end? What I said applies to the center link end.
