Ok so I've never ported or gasket matched before but I have watched tons of videos to get me going in the right direction, but my question is, im using a speedmaster airgap intake, and I bought a felpro full gasket set off a guy cheap. When I lay the metal gaskets up to the intake runners the runners are bigger than the gasket. Do I need to trim the gasket back to fit the runners or will it be to big than for the head? Havnt layer it against the head yet its a stock 5.2 magnum

Are you sure you have the correct gaskets? What part # is the gasket set?

The metal gaskets are generally the small 273/318 port size, and really shouldn't be used with an aluminum manifold anyway. the SM manifold and Magnum heads have a port that is bigger than the small heads, but smaller than the 340/360 sized ports.
Just get the right gaskets.

Does Speedmaster make a magnum intake manifold? Also Magnum gasket Port windows are smaller or shorter I should say then an la 360 port window gasket

Also remember the difference in the Magnum intake bolt angle vs. the LA angle. Correct Magnum gaskets have oblong bolt openings as opposed to the LA gasket's round holes. It would be hit and miss modifying the gaskets to properly locate themselves, and then you still have to deal with the port mismatch. Is that what you want to base your port match from? As I said, just get the right gaskets.

The edelbrock mag gasket sit flush with the bottom edge of the head below cross over passenges.

I would ping @pittsburghracer as he has forgotten more about head work than most folks know. He is super busy and races but just a wealth of info.

I recommend finding a gasket that matches your head then match the intake to it. Try real hard NOT to run a bigger port on the intake than you have on the head. That’s not a good senecio

Thanks guys, seemed I didn't know there was much difference in the gaskets to he honest lol yea I found out speedmaster has the right gaskets for the intake, also I found out these are for LA bolt pattern, wasn't oval! Thanks guys for yalls inputs definitely shed some light

If you have Magnum heads you might want to have them drilled to the LA bolt pattern or look for another intake manifold. I think member @DionR has one.

I misread your post thinking it was the intake manifold you were speaking of while it was actually the gaskets. happy Motoring
