How hard is it to change over from power steering to manual steering on a 74 Swinger? I hear from another member that the pitman arms on the 73 and later are different. But will a pre 73 go into a 74 and work correctly? that all is entailed in changing it out?

If you want to keep the '73 up steering setup you will need to find a '73-'76 A body or '66 up B body manual steering box, '73-'76 A body manual steering Pitman arm, and a column adapter to fill the gap between the end of your power steering column and the manual steering box. To use a '68-'72 A body manual steering box you will need a steering box, Pitman arm, idler arm, center link, and the column adapter. Hope this helps.

So I have this piece that is an extra that I have been keeping just in case. How do I know if it is the correct adapter for the steering column? It is the one that goes directly onto the box. It has an " M " stamped on the bottom of it(so that it would be closest to the box) is the a length difference between the power steering one and the manual steering one? Or does the M mean Manual and the power one have a P on it?

power steering columns are shorter is why you need an adapter unles you want to change steering column as well. your current (74) pitman will fit on the earlier box just fine then use an adapter like these to connect the shorter ps column to man box.
