Im starting a new project and thought you might want to come along. Hope you enjoy the pics.

Its a 1974 plymouth scamp powered by a slant six and 904. Rear end was a 7.25. I got a 1974 400 for 100 bucks and a few scumacher mounts from ebay for 80 bucks. Also bought back my old weld superlites that are 15x13 with a 7.5 offset. The rear I paid 50 bucks for is a 8.75 from an e body.

Previous owner had removed the vynle top and repaired it . new front and back glass with gaskets then painted it sassy grass green.

Im starting by narrowing the rear. Enjoy following along....

Here are the first pics. Basicaly measured the width then marking the axle centerline to clock the housing ends back in the propper locations.

Now we have taken a center punch and marked the lines we made earlier to clock the housing ends to the right location. The reason to do this is because we are blasting it and the ends. If we didnt mark them we would lose the marks.

I installed the 3rd member with the pucks inside to except the solid bar to locate the ends properly. i ALSO BEVELED THE ENDS OF THE HOUSING TO GET A MAXIMUM WELD DEPTH. then slide on the ends with the 2nd set of pucks intstalled and tacked the ends in three spots.

Welded up the housing doing just about a 4th or the tubing diameter on both sideds at a time and then letting it cool to the touch then repeating till done. Then cleaned the welds and primed the housing.

I then took the stock axles and removed 8.75 inches from them both and made a sleeve the would both fit in. Installed the axles and the sleeve in between them to make a roller rear. Then I had to mount the wheels just to see my progress. Hope you like the pics so far and more to come.

Nice job!I,m curious as to what your total width is?I narrowed a C-body housing to 46 5/8 for my 66 Dart.My rims are 15x12 with 4 1/2 b.spacing.

The housing is 39 inches. But I have 7.5 offset rims. I plan on running 33x18.5-15 ET STREETS. Gives me a total rear end width of 44 inches. My scamp body is also 66 inches wide. Is the early dart narrower?

Thanks for the kind words everyone. As soon as I resize my pics I will get them posted. Should be today. I also cut out the spare tire well. Has a nice repair. But I dont need. 15 bucks plus shipping. Awsome tank too. 35 bucks plus shipping. 55314.

Heres mine, your not alone. Shes got a 360 with a 4 speed and 8.75 with 391's in the back. It is a fun fun street car. Shes getting a major facelift tho Im converting it to a 71 rear clip with a 69 valiant front nose. But shes still a scamp.

hey varlo I followed your thread. nice car and great job! SBDART love the dakota. I had a 1988 one in 1990 that i put a bigblock in and got known for doing those swaps this. I used a modified plymouth acclaim booster and was able to set the engine back by the firewaqll like it should be. The schumacher kit is nice but puts the motor 2 or more inches forward making very little room for a radiator. Great cars guys and great site!!!!!!
