Yes, light car and quick releasing brake helps.Find out if it's a .400 or .500 pro tree.
I've tried the .400 tree. The car was quick enough. I wasn't. You'll probably need a mid 10s car for a .400 tree.
I have a light car now. I had a very light car then, with a decent brake, but not a lightning-fast one. I think the car might have worked well with a younger driver with a better internal r.t.Yes, light car and quick releasing brake helps.
I am sure what the OP is looking to do will be on a 4tenths tree.
Most anything 7.0 in the 1/8 or the 11.50 stuff is 5 tenths.
6.50 and 10.0 or faster is all 400 around here
I can only relate my experience.
I believe my car was SLIGHTLY faster using the brake, compared to foot braking. . M y personal benefit of the brake was more consistent lights. Stepping off a button was easier than swapping feet. I didn't use a two step, just wooded the throttle at the first yellow, stepped off at the third. 5300 rpm leave.
But that transbrake leave was FUN! Small wheelstand with the brake, left flat footbraked.
My memory may be faulty, but I'm pretty sure deep stage was not allowed in super pro, our only pro tree class. Exactly why I ran pro. Full tree, no box!
I have never seen deep staging allowed on a pro tree, that seems weirdSportsman and pro, deep was allowed. Just not in the pro tree class. Backwards of what it should be, in my opinion.
Must be a Northeast thing ..when we go deep we always go in quick so we don't mess with the other guy., thats our courtesy. I roll in at rpm ( 2,000 ) all in one motion , I don't stop at the pre stage but bump into it and the final stage bulb. Your class looked tempting to me awhile back but the no deep staging kept me from attending. A few of the tracks I run at you are allowed to put deep on the window so your opponent and the starter know. At another track I was told to take it off the window . fine by me ! a few guys I beat told me I didn't know you were going deep ! If I am running a friend I will tell them . It did bite me in the butt last year though , I went in deep it must have thrown the other guy off as he took forever to stage and I lost my concentration and lost. Very few of the class champions across all the classes shallow stage . I use the rules to my advantage .. I am foot braking against I would say over half the cars in the class that have two steps and trans brakes in both pro dial and 11.50 index .I have never seen deep staging allowed on a pro tree, that seems weird
My business sponsored an 11.50 index class at the Norwalk Mopar race for a few years.
500 pro tree, footbrake only, no deep staging, and courtesy staging in effect, so you don’t get these guys driving in and turning on both bulbs and watching the other guy get in, to be more ready.

I was in a pro dial Final back in 2023 , we both were deep him with a transbrake , me footbraking .. he was a much faster car I was 006 to his 009 .. I would have run dead on but I scrubbed 3 to his 2 he Won.
You seem to have been racing for a while but I have NOT so, take this for what it's worth. One thing I can share with you about a .400 pro tree racing is the car needs to be tuned to get on the brake quickly. May take some carb tuning to get it right between squirters and pumps. We have never raced a pro tree bracket race. Of any of you guys. How did you like it.

I have to run 0.015 in the delay box. I can red light on a .400 pro tree. I was mainly just wanting to know if people enjoy braket racing on a pro tree. We run the 6.00 class on a .400 pro tree. You seem to have been racing for a while but I have NOT so, take this for what it's worth. I have enough of a built in delay being 71 years old , boxes not allowed in pro dial or 11.50 index around here !I have to run 0.015 in the delay box. I can red light on a .400 pro tree.
