Purchased a Procomp HEI distributor off e-bay, figured i'd give it a try, its the big cap'd version with the coil in the cap, well its a POS, it doesn't fire, theres been talk on other boards of the module being bad right OOTB, now some others are useing there "drop in & go" dizzys that use an external coil with good results, are any of you useing either one of these distributors, if so, are you having any issues with them? The main construction seems really good, but the electronics seem poor, the module on this unit is a flat micro chip board, i'm going to call Procomp today & see what they will do for me if anything, they do have replacement modules & pick-up coils for about 10.00 each.

Just be aware of these HEI units if your planning on saving a buck, you most likely will be disapointed.

If i had a dollar for every bad thing i have heard about Procomp stuff and every warning i have heard NOT to buy it, i would be able to afford a nice MSD ignition setup.

If using Pro-comp, the best advice is to keep a stock electronic setup in your trunk -coil, ECU and Elec mopar dizzy.

hopefully they'll send you the parts you need.

I did the old wire in a HEI module trick. eliminated all the stock ECU stuff and the stock wiring mess.
got it mounted under the stock MoPar dizzy base for a clean install. works peachy.

actually I just bought one off craigslist in vegas for 60 bucks, have not had a chance to try since i left this morning to work out of town.

but the guy had problems with bulkhead wiring ..and his chrysler electronic would not fire...he bought the Procomp...hopiing with one wire hook up ...but he used the same bulkhead wires ..so the procomp would not fire either

he called procomp...the fedex him a new module and coil....

i also got the module and coil in the deal too

he said procomp was very supported ...and said sometime the module get bumped around and fail during shipping..

hope that help....

I called Procomp, they was very helpful, he is sending me a coil/module & pick-up coil, i just pay the 10.00 shipping, but after looking things over, i discovered they had a clear film like stuff coating the outer edges of the coil to protect it from rust i guess, this is where it needs to be grounded, plus there was a goopy film all over the connections where the pick-up plugs into the module, they used it to glue the wires together, doesn't look like electricity can pass through, i'm not talking about the white lythium grease that goes under the module, so i'll test it out today & see if it fires, but after going through all this i decided to call it quits on the cheap stuff, so i ended up finding a nice used complete Mallory set-up for a good price, i'll get the dizzy/6AL box/coil & a set of mallory wires plus instructions for about what it would cost for just the Mallory dizzy new, if the Procomp dizzy turns out to be good, i'll keep it as a spare.

It fires now. Once i drop the carb back on i'll see if it runs lol.
