Project Cheap & Nasty Updated With Back Story

The good ol H1C is a great turbo. The one on my cummins is putting out 25psi plus at full tilt with a slightly modified injection pump and a heavy foot. Takes a little while to spool, so be aware of that. it'll probably be worse on the slant. But overall a pretty bulletproof turbo. the turbo stalls a lot from my dumbass snapping the "throttle" shut and it hasn't ripped apart yet.

You’d be surprised. If it’s on there and torqued down you might as well use it. When it eats coolant, pull the head and have a cometic made for it.
It won't, it'll push out into the cam-side of the block & smoke it, same way SB's do, & Dulcich's did......which is a good bad-thing, at least it shouldn't fill & lock a slug..
Even with port EFI & an ECM controlled timing curve, Mopar drew the line @7p.s.i. stock w/o an intercooler, & used a knock sensor because folks would use less octane than required to use the 'ideal' boost/timing built in. I have the HP Controller/logic module that will run @11psi, & the upgraded cam for the TurboI, but haven't tried them out on anything yet.....We have 94 available here,..I would be sneaking-up on the base timing watching for a peep out of the knock sensor.

I've had two blown slant six head gaskets - one leaked coolant into the cylinders and one leaked into the oil.

First was naturally aspirated. Second hadn't run more than 5 psi but had left a bottle of coolant flush in there for what was probably too long.
