Well, it's finally happening. Long story short, I went to log back in here after a few years of being inactive. I lost my previous account info, can't figure out what email I used, and so I just created a new account. (sorry if that gets on the admins nerves)

My dad rebuilt his '67 Barracuda Fastback Formula S painted (273 4bbl, 4spd) "Ford equivalent Medium Copper" when I was... in the oven. Since then, It went through some harsh Idaho winters as a daily driver and the QP's and trunk extensions rusted out quite nicely. So it sat in my grandpa's unused potato cellar (insert Idaho joke here) until better days.

After a few false starts, we've actually cut into the car. We got the bottom halves of the quarters and the trunk extensions on both sides from Tamraz. Our favorite body shop (and they guys that will paint the car for us) told us to try out Fusor 108B for pannel bonding. Dad being the old school guy he is, went with it, but was hesitant. He put down some tack welds after just to ease his mind.

We have the passenger side done, and tomorrow will hopefully get the drivers side done. (I promise the new trunk extensions are back there in the pictures.)

We've started sanding things down with the DA sander Everything from the doors up is done, except for the roof Then we'll block it out, throw some primer down and get the original code gorgeous Medium Copper down. We're still debating on whether to keep the stripe on or not. I think it breaks the Copper up a bit.

As for the rest of the car, the plan (right now) is to keep it fairly stock. We think a previous owner dropped a hotter cam in it, and we plan on putting in dual exhaust, but it's been so long since we've had the car out driving that my dad can't really remember how responsive it was and if he wants a little more. Next winter may or may not have a 360 (or 408) swap in store. The clutch is also shot, so we plan on putting a 10.5" instead of the 9" that's in it.

As for the interior, we just ordered new bucket seat covers and a carpet kit tonight. we pulled up the front of the carpet tonight and the floor pans look alright. There's some bad surface rust on the passenger side (which is the complete opposite side we would have though would be rusty. My dad's mud cover boots should have killed his side instead of a much younger me and my little Nikes.) I'll be pulling the seats out tomorrow and pulling the carpet up as well. The seat bolts don't look to rusty, so hopefully it should be a easy removal.

Wheels and Tires are a must. Of course we'll fry what's left of the old ones (and video it for later enjoyment) and there's the problem of the Small Bolt Pattern. I'm not really a fan of Cragars and Rallye wheels are more a 70's thing. I really like the look of the Magnum 500 wheels, but that's an item that's on the bottom of the to-do list. Right now, it's getting a solid body, a coat of paint on and a respectable interior. Then we'll start talking performance and tires/wheels.

So... that's where we're at right now. I'm sure I'll have other questions, and feel free to ask questions, bring up concerns. Seriously, if you see anything weird, ask to see if I can clarify photos, or descriptions. We don't really want to screw anything over. My dad was into restoring pretty deep back in the 70's and 80's, but hasn't done to much lately. Subsequently, I'm pretty much a noob at this. It was my first time using a DA sander this week. But I'm learning a ton at a fast pace. It's awesome.

I'm pumped guys. SuperCuda's been like the redheaded step child in the family and he's finally getting the attention he deserves. This car was such a big part of my childhood. The smell of the vinyl seats is enough to bring back a flood of memories and we've been rocking out to the "Best of Van Halen" tape we found still stuck in the car.

More awesome to come.

Got a bit more done today. All the carpet is out and the majority of the surface rust is out. Just need to grind some things down a bit more, spray some POR-15 down and we should have the new carpet and seat covers by then, so we should have the interior back in shape by this weekend, depending on if we get distracted sanding down or not. We've been swapping around from thing to think a bit.

We got everything ready to bond the last panel back up (drivers side trunk extension, but forgot that we didn't have another nozzle to run the Fusor, so hopefully we can get that done tomorrow, though we'll be busy that night.

Hopefully by the weekend we'll have everything DA'd and we'll start blocking everything out by Saturday.

When I was pulling out the carpet, I found about $3 in change, easily a full 12 pack of crayons, a sticker that hadn't been stuck (likely from one of my many doctors visits) and an old photo of my sister and cousin. Oh, and a lot of fruit snack wrappers. It was like a time capsule under there.

We would like an update. The suspense is killing me! LOL!:happy1:

Nice start. I love the connection between you and the car. The best part is that you are building it with your Dad! Man, you can never get that time back. Great color and nice to see you sticking with it. I think the body style merits deletion of the stripe. The lines flow great with that color! Just my two cents :-).

Sorry I haven't had an update in a while. Last week we had some water damage in the house, and then this week my dad is on travel, so we haven't had too much time to work on the car.

Everything is ready to start working on bondo, and I've been casually sanding on the few panels we have left to do. It's still a little cold here, but it should be into the 60's most all of next week, so hopefully we can get some serious work done. The weather starts warming up and we start doing other things.

Dad's got it a bit in his head that he's going to paint the car himself. He did it the first time (granted that was two decades ago) and he did a pretty good job. We're not going for show car, just something to run around in and make some memories.

Now dad is thinking about buying some generic fire engine red paint and shooting it. Then, with the money we don't spend on a professional repaint, could go towards a possible engine swap.

But those last bits are far from final. First, the body still has plenty of prep to do.
