whats the proper way to measure for ubolt length? is it the inside of the arch? i need ubolts that are about an inch longer to install tie down plates under my shock mounts. looks like if i measure from the top of the rear housing to the bottom of the u-bolt its about 7" long so i'd need ones about 8" long.. the new ones that are supposed to be 9" are mesuring 10" from the inside of where it goes over the housing to the end. just checked the part number and they are supposed to be 9" which looks like it would work. may have to trim a little after install but these things are way way too long and the threads don't go high enough. can i add threads or are they cold rolled or something? i don't want to weaken the ubolt.

.....and yeah, they are a double barrel bastid to tap threads on.

Are you asking how to figure length? I measure from the top of the tube to the bottom of the perch and add 2".

yes. the ones on it are perfect now, i'm adding a tie down plate to the bottom and need something about an inch longer. i though it was the inside of the arch. not sure what the hell they were measuring to get 9" out of the new ones but they measure 10"..

any good recommendations on where to order a set of properly measure u-bolts?

thats what i though.. i wanted 9" which woudl have worked but these measure 10" which are way too long.. looks like 8" would fit perfect. just have to find a set now and return these mis marked ones.
.... or cut em to the length you want. (Die grinder with a cutoff wheel.)

Edit : oops. Didn't see that the threads are too short at first. Yeah, just send em back.
Or add a 1" lowering block, lol.

I like General Spring. They've always been good to deal with for me. I got some Falcon station wagon springs and hardware a while back from them. Good service and decent deal.

@abodyjoe Dis you get them from Mancini? I’m going through the same deal with the tie down plates rn.

yes advertised as 9" which would fit and i'd trim after if needed but these damn things are 10" and threads don't go far enough. was gonna call them tuesday.. probably see if they will exchange for the 8" and they will fit like i want..lol

They sent me a return number. I’m purchasing 8” ones from General Spring.
