My original was Stainless. My replacement are the same!

I was very Fortunate to Purchase a very original mechanically correct car in in 1984. Very few original parts were disturbed and or replaced!

Early 68 383 Formula S Fastback was steel. I got mine in original condition. Nice they changed to stainless steel. I bought mine in the mid 70's.

Just checked the Wife's 67, it is certainly magnetic. Next time I have it in the air I'll see if it's cold galvinized.

Yeah, when stainless steel came up, I checked mine with a magnet. Definitely not stainless steel. It started to rust in one area also.

All of the ones that I have seen were just plain stamped steel. I do not think that stainless steel for components like exhaust pipes and such were not in use until the mid to late 80s.
