On the passengers side of the oil rail just above where the oil pan mounts, about in the middle of the block will be some numbers.
OB123456 would be a 70 model, from Hamtramck plant with vin of 123456.
Can you post a picture of the vin number and year designation?

Casting number indicates mid year '73 block. 1-15-73

trans vin appears to be 0R201334 ? Early '70 built trans
330th trans built that day
10,000 day calendar 3077 ? but I can't find that number on the calendar.

My photo didnt take. I will have to go back and get it. Sorry guys. Ty for your responses

@Alaskan_TA may be able to tell? It was in a car built at Hamtramck plant, but I can't remember if any cars besides E bodies were done there. 340's came in A, B and E bodies in 73. Does it still have the "340 Cast Crank only" harmonic balancer on it?

I honestly dont know. This engine was built 20 years ago. This is the first time ive had the engine out. Ive never looked tbh

It will be cast into the balancing lobe on the front of the harmonic balancer if it does. Not a big deal if it doesn't. It could have had a crank swap when it was rebuilt. If it does have the cast crank only harmonic balancer on it, the flywheel will be balanced specifically for that type engine too. Cast crank 340's were in production for a year and a half and all of them were externally balanced.
