Hello all.

Just joined the forum.

We have a 1972 Plymouth Duster that has been sitting in our barn for some 20 plus years now. We bought it from the family of my childhood best friend. Then we put it in the barn after a bit and there she has stayed.

The car; I have not gotten a good look at it in some 20 + years but I did give it a quick looking over yesterday. Believe it or not the dome light lit up when I opened the door! It has been kept dry all these years and is in very nice shape still. 40 something thousand original miles on it. It is tan in color, maybe butterscotch? It has a reptile pattern vinyl top in real nice shape. Original tan interior that I did not see a rip in anywhere. Only rust is the bottom edge of the rear quarters and the tail light area has had some patching of some sort as a repair. Other than that she is straight clean original and complete. It is a 225 slant six.

I will give her some TLC, get the fluids changed, get her running and check brakes and all that. Get her cleaned up then post some pictures. I will be looking to you guys for help and advice I am sure. I plan to repair the lower quarters and back tail light area and I think that is all the body work needed.

I do however come from a love of E-bodies, my first car was a 74 challenger and my second was a 74 challenger. Would love another but I think for now this duster is growing on me. The grill and hood and tail lights of the 72 and older are really nice looking. My brother had a 76 space duster at the time I had the challengers.

Look forward to getting this old girl back on the road and spending some time on this forum.

Kevin

Kevin, that's a great story and cool history. Once you get started on that little jewel those E Bodies won't matter anymore. :-D Welcome to the best Mopar site on the net from your new neighbor to the south. Make yourself at home and enjoy!

Oh, and in case you didn't get the first sixty two hints, the natives are restless for pics. LOL

What a great welcome, thanks for that.

Funny, I am on a classic Sea Ray forum (as well as several others) and we all absolutely love pictures there too.

I will certainly do my best. I will get some photos of her in the barn and some of the process of pulling her out.

Dad must have charged the battery at some point because I was pretty surprised when the dome light lit up when I opened the door.

There are a bunch of old Mopars out on the farm, some running, some rotting. Need to sell some. There are a couple of 60 something valiants, one with the spare tire in the trunk lid. I will try and get pictures if people are interested. They have rust, one had a rebuilt engine but neither run at the moment. A 68 coronet 500 wagon, rusty and will part out.

I probably just got my self in deeper debt of more pics didn't I...

I just uploaded the Valiants to Flickr here;
