I'm a new member & I have some questions about getting misc items fixed on the '65 Barracuda. Being a newbie I don't know the official names for a lot of the parts yet but will try to describe them.

First, where is the best place to get the plastic radio faceplate rechromed? Most of the chrome finish is completely gone.

Second, the silver strip in the rear window and windshield gaskets is yellow & nasty looking. I heard that you can buy rolls of that material someplace and that it's a fairly easy thing to change. Where would I look for it & what is it called?

Thanks!

It's called vacuum metallizing or plating. I sanded my interior plastic chrome pieces and painted them with Krylon Dull Aluminum, they look good but not stock, but it cost me $0.

Original looking window locking strip is not available, but you can get Chevy stuff that is dirt cheap and looks great. This is what most people do. The original is concave, the Chevy stuff is concurve.

Laysons carrys some cuda parts if you were wondering :thumblef:

Thanks for the info!! I was actually wondering how that Krylon plastic paint would look. I might try it on a part from one of my other old cars & see how it looks. I plan to take the 'cuda to local shows so I may hold off on the radio plate & have it plated.
