Just got my QFT slayer 600 today and a buddy got his new Eddy 1405. His is going on a fresh 318 build so I bolted it on my 360 to run it awhile and get it in the ballpark before he puts it on his motor for the first fire up. Basically just set idle and plugged in a vacuum gauge to set idle mixture screws. Didn't really run much better than my factory qjet except for being smoother when the secondaries open up. Bolting on my new QFt slayer 600 tomorrow. Basically going to set float level, idle mixture and speed and see what kind of real world difference there is between the 2 ootb. On a 360 with 450" hyd cam, port matched Indy reman heads, 1 5/8" headers, 8.5 actual c.r, stock 340 intake, but will be switching to a torker 340 to compare them again in a few days. Got the Slayer for $25 less than the Eddy at a local macine shop overnight. So far the Eddy seems like the other 2 new ones I've ran on other cars. Smooth, reliable, but not much better then a smogger qjet ootb. Let you all know how the Quick Fuel compares tomorrow

Sure looks pretty and the features and adjustability are outstanding for the money. Il let everyone know how it does later today. Il be putting a old "mos" torker 340 on later this week since it was free, and see how both carbs perform out of the box on a single plane as well

I don't think the Torker will be a good match for that combo.

Maybe not for now but I'm adding a Hughes cam over the winter. This is in a 4wd truck mostly used in the mud. Not hard to get it into the upper rpm range quick so for my usage I don't think the old torker is gonna hurt much, plus I like the old school look of a simple single plane. Iv ran them on older 340 street cars and haven't found them to be junk intakes like a lot of people lead you to believe as long as you have the heads and enough cam to go with it

Love those carbs for milder builds. Super adjustable. You will find yourself opening the vacuum secondary screw quite a lot from factory setting. Great carb and will probably be 5-10 hp better than an Eddy 600. J.Rob

I'm pretty much done with the Eddy carbs. Never seen to perform that great. They're smooth, they work, but I've always had better results with Holley type carbs and even a good working quadrajet when you happen to find one that works. I've tuned the Eddy before and it helped but in my opinion a properly tuned Holley type is hard to beat

The Quick Fuel 600 is an absolute hit right out of box!!!! Primary float level was a touch high, no biggie. Turned idle mixture screws about 1/8 turn each to get vacuum up a touch. Idle speed was dead on. It fired right up, runs smooth at 600rpm in gear and pulls ALOT HARDER then the Eddy hands down. Haven't even touched the secondary opening screw as it comes on nice and smooth already. Then found out after I set kickdown linkage, I wasn't even gettin full throttle, yet it still makes the Eddy look silly. I need the Holley kickdown adapter. The eddy brand adapter bolts on, but stud for kick down lever is too far back. Might just cut an inch out of lever, weld it back together and be done. Use the Holley bracket youl be golden! VERY HAPPY with this carb!!! Even the factory jetting and power valve seems close enough for my combo!!!! Highly recommend this carb!!!!

Put the torker 340 on tonight since I had pull intake anyway and throw the junk summit, crane or whosoever makes them lifters in scrapbin. Put set of Comp hi energy lifters in. No more ticking at start up. The quick fuel needed a little adjustment of idle mixture screws. Haven't touched secondary opening screw yet but tomorrow I'm going to play with it a little. Going to the single plane it did lose a little grunt from a dead stop but once the tach hits 2500, this 5200lb truck pulls harder then it ever has. Can't be happier with the new QFT Slayer so far. Gonna put a little more timing in it and play with the secondary opening tomorrow and see what happens. Nothing wrong with those old torker 340 intakes on a daily driver, as long as you're not putting them on a stock 318 with 276 gear
