Went to the track with the new engine/trans combo. 512 with Trick flow 270 cnc max wedge heads, 12.5 to 1 with 200 psi of cranking compression. The camshaft is a Bullet solid roller intake 268/.668 , exhaust 276/.648 seperation 114 degreed to 110. Engine is set-up for nitrous. Made 2 1/8th mile easy passes on motor and timing 34 degree's, read the plugs after the run the timing mark on the NGK #10 with .025 gap was just pass the weld area of the ground strap toward the threads, plug had silver specs from detonation. My race gas is Sunoco 110 thats 2 years old in a sealed 55 gallon drum. I have verifyed TDC is right on the balancer on zero. At 30 degree's the timing mark is just before the bend on the electrode and no silver specs on the plug.
My Question is there too much timing at 34 degree's for this set-up, how much would the 110 2 year old race gas affect the timing mark on the plug and the detonation? Should I try C16?
