I have a 72 Demon.. 318 4spd manual w/o A.C. I'm in need of a radiator and have an opportunity to buy an OEM one and was told it's out of a 71 Dart A.C. car.
The stamped number on top is 3443 977
If that radiator is out of a automatic tranny car, how do I deal with the trans cooling ports..? Do the ports just have valves that you can close..or do they get plugged somehow..?
Also, the radiator that came with my Demon was damaged pretty bad and thrown away but my memory of it, it appeared to be smaller in width...is there one smaller than 22" for a v8..?
Lastly, and I'm pretty sure it won't matter, but my car is non A.C... is there an issue or benefit that the one I might purchase is for an A.C. car..

Thanks..

Put caps on them, or just leave them open. They're separate and sealed (can't let coolant and tranny fluid mix, so it's sealed tight).
Threaded brass plugs or just those cheap plastic push caps will work just fine.

As for cooling capacity the AC rads have better cooling efficiency, so that's a plus.

The size...
19" for /6s
22" for most V8s
Some later V8 had 26"(IIRC)

The 22 inch AC Rad should cool your engine fine.

That is assuming the core is still the OEM or equivalent core, and the rest of your cooling system is properly matched and in good working order.

You can plumb your power steering return line thru the auto cooler if you want. It will drop the fluid temp down to coolant temp.
Just an option for the ports if you desire them being used for something.

I would simply plug them off. You don't want dirt and whatnot getting in there and promoting corrosion. Also a good place for dirt daubers. No way would I just leave those ports open.
