REAR Clunking Sound when turning

My 1966 Valiant runs great, but when I turn the corner at slow speeds I here a clunking sound from what I think is the rear right side. It sounds like something is loose and/or shifting underneath. I'm thinking it has something to do with the suspension, shackles on the leaf springs, or the frame being rusted around the torque boxes. The transmission and axle seem OK. I've seen mentions of replacing the leaf springs. Any thoughts or ideas welcomed.

Could it have a limited slip diff in it?

Is it a single clunk or a clunk clunk clunk.

Have you checked your u bolts in the rear.

Also check your u joints

have you gotten under it and looked at anything?

what's the overall condition of the car? like, could something have rusted thru and broke off and it's flopping around under there? what rear end? how old are the shocks? any recent work?

It is a single "clunk" only when going around a corner at low speed, never on straight-aways. It does sound like something's loose.
As far as the condition, I would say the frame is pretty rusted, especially around the rear shackle attachments.

Probably right. I'll have to recheck in the spring when I get her going again up at the cabin. I'll update at that time.

Left turn, right, or both? I've had bad shocks on a B150 clunk. Might check the axle bearing end play too.

Check the mounts for the leaf spring shackles. I had a 74 Dart that the mounts rusted off the frame rail and the ends of the leaf springs jammed up into the trunk. I bought it a little time by bolting a 4 x 4 thru the frame rails and using lag screws to hold the shackle mounts to the 4 x 4's. Eventually scrapped it.

Could be a busted sure-grip or ring gear. I broke a 4.56 sure-grip on the track and only noticed it when turning. Turned out I busted the ring gear as well. I would check everything else first.
