Hey Gang, I've got a query. First off, I gotta say electronics are definitely not my forte though I'm getting a little more informed. That said, I put a rear window defroster in my car YEARS ago, I just tied it into the accessory fuse and put in my own toggle switch along with an Led light. In recent years I've been acquiring parts to get it closer to stock again so I picked up a used factory wiring loom. I'm trying to hook it up and I'm a bit miffed. I thought there was something possible missing put after some some searching, I think not. It is basically 2 parts. The long tail is hooked up and it will operate if I run a jumper from that to the hot side to the fuse box, but I can't figure out how to properly hook up the switch to get power. All the plugs are self explanatory but there is only one other loose wire which is just a green ground. There has to be some kind of lead to get power I would think?? I'm attaching a couple of pics of a loom. It is NOT MINE but it is exactly the same. ANYONE know what I'm missing. Sorry for being so long winded.

The three wire plug goes to the back of the factory switch. The green wire plugs onto the back side of the fuse box onto a male "Key on" prong. Plug one end of the two wire extension to the switch harness and the other end to the fan. You are done . My Demon has the rear defog option. I also have the adapter so you can have dual speakers and still have the defogger.

Dayum, pretty sure that's exactly what I'm doing. I plugged the Green onto the outside accessory prong. That's the one I used to wire it direct and it did work with the the key on both accessory and pre ignition side. Maybe the switch is bad?? I did check it with a multimeter and it seems good. Again though, I'm new with that stuff. I'll try bypassing the switch and get back to you. I do have the factory fader switch for rear speakers, also. Just got my radio back and that works like a charm. Thanks for the info, I'll give you an update.

Heres pics of our 67 cuda. I'm in the midst of a "rally dash redo". Like OMM said green goes from fusebox to switch. Then both black and white wires travel under dash to pass side. Ours is factory and I can't believe they piggybacked **** like they did. The green wire in the pics is the one with black heat shrink on it. Ignore the other green wire it's for factory ac vacuum switch. Hope it helps.

Thank you 4spd, that's interesting, I too have something piggy backed though I don't really know what. On another point, I see yours has a blue wire tied to the green; was that your doing or is that part of the wiring. That green being a ground, I still don't know where I would be getting power from?

No problem, the green isnt ground, that's power. The ground(probably) takes place through mounting. ALL the wires from the fuseblock are POWER.
That blue wire is for factory tach.

Well after hours of homework and revisiting my past, I've gotten closer. First, know that I put this thing in as a dumb kid 'bout 45 years ago. After nothing making sense, I opened the trunk and realized that 1. It's not even an original blower, It's a single speed that I HAVE ZERO IDEA WHERE I EVEN GOT IT and 2. since it wasn't original, the wires were reversed on that end. It also wasn't grounded since my custom install just ran 2 wires to the fuse box and ground.

So now my search is for an original motor. Surfing the net, I'm seeing that the original mounts to a speaker hole which I don't think I want to do whether I get one or not, but WHO KNOWS. Being that it's a single speed blower, the original switch I picked up is ON in the middle position and OFF on both side positions. So if I can't find a motor, I'll just go back to my original set up with a 2 position toggle.

Thanks SO Much for your valuable input. That Green wire being hot is INSANE and had me going in circles. Not quite as Crazy as the front defroster duct hoses though if you've ever experienced that. :BangHead:

Blessings

What year car are you working on? Yes the air intake LOOKS like a speaker hole, but that's where it's supposed to go.

I have this set up in 2 of my 70 Darts and the system works great. I have extra parts so if you are looking for stuff send me a PM

It's the '72 Demon you see in my profile. I'd prefer to keep both of my speakers intact. The one I have now is just mounted to the cross bracing behind the rear seat.

Interesting...I'd like to get an original blower/motor.
There is a stereo adapter for dual speakers with the defogger. I intakes warm cabin air while still using the speaker

I've seen that in my searching. That doesn't rattle or hum? Does it affect the speaker at all compared to the other side?

You don't even know its there. I pulled it from my Duster to save for my Demon when the Duster was wrecked. The Duster Had 4 infinity Speakers with a floor mount cassette case I installed a stereo in. Two speakers were fastened to the kick panels fitted into old period correct boxes as seen in the pictures.

I put in a CD player with an Amp. in the car and no Vibration at all. The Duster was very loud but you could still crank up a good tune on the Stereo and listen to it on the return lane or in the staging lane .

The adapters are not an easy part to find but I have seen them on Face Book Market place at a reasonable price. It is a mopar part and has a part number.

factory cassette deck - now there's something you don't see often!

Just touching base with everyone who took the time to respond. I've got a motor and it's in and working. Had me scratching my head for a quick minute till I found that it just needed to be contacted to metal to complete the circuit. I thank you all for your extensive detail and help.
