This started out as tranny work and new clutch and after removal I found a boat loaf of evidence of a bad oil leak. The back of the engine covered, bell housing is covered and there was oil in the inspection cover and all over. The oil was not hitting the ground, I have removed the oil pan and its pretty evident the rear main seal is leaking. I got a new Fel Pro BS 40265 two piece seal and it looks like the one I pulled out. After reading the directions and going to put it in either I am putting it in backwards or whoever put the one in I just took out backwards. The directions do not have any pictures and they say the the larger opening goes towards the engine. The seal looks like two half circles connected with material in between them. One circle is smaller than the other. Does anyone have knowledge of what I am trying to explain? Engine is 70 340
