Rear seat bottom removal tricks

Hi all, has anybody got any tips or tricks for removal of rear seat, with the front seats installed. The last time I had these out was when I was doing the interior over and did the back seat before the front, and was able to use my knees to push while I lifted with my hands.

On my 65 dart, it's pushed down, on the seat, push towards the back of the car, to clear the brackets and then pull up.

Are the rear straps bolted in ?

The back of the seat is bolted to 2 straps, so bottom comes out first as stated above.

I just take the palm of my hand and SMACK the front of the bottom of the seat frame back on each side while pulling up at the same time.

Well....... I tried all those usual methods. But no luck there. What I ended up doing was using a scissor jack and a couple little blocks of wood and jacked against the front seats to the bottom of the rear seat, then lifted up the rear seat and it popped out of the notch. Thanks everyone for your input.

That's what I had to do on my 65 Dart, Drivers side not to bad, passengers side is tough.

There is a tool for this that can easily be made. It is about a 12 inch narrow bar with a hook 3 inches off the end facing up to push the wire. It goes under the seat on its side . Move it up against the hook and and stand it up to push the round wire on the seat. Push the flat upright handle and the seat wire pops right out of the hook.

They do get stuck pretty good especially if you pick the seat up to hard it bends the wire toward the front . Then you have to push farther back. The more you pick it up the more it gets stuck. Then you definitely will need the tool . A jack will push the whole seat frame. Just like taking it out by hand which usually works for guys with big arms . Its the wire that needs to be pushed . The tool can be used on most all Mopars

A trick I use to get the rear seat bottom removed is lots of four-letter words! Push down hard on the top front and then push back just as hard. There's a metal rod in the seat frame that has to pass over a bracket lip. You push down and back to create the clearance so it will pop "over" the bracket lip.

Yeah, lots of BAD words coming out of my mouth! So much so that my wife came outside and offered some help! Then I got the jack out of my truck and when I used that it was a breeze. Going back in also. I remember when I had them out before, all I had to do to get them back in was to sit on the seat.

Just had mine out to replace carpet in '65 Barracuda. Remove the two bolts securing the rear of the seat to the floor - look between the seat bottom and seat back and you will see them. Then push down and back on the front edge of the seat bottom to disengage it from the brackets.
