Rear Window Seal Rot Repair

Good Afternoon y’all.

Finally getting around to working the back section of my 67 Barracuda FB. I imagine I’m not the only one who has rot around this area on there’s.

What was your approach to getting this fixed? Did you find this section off of a donor car or fabricate the section or other?

From my research, I don’t believe they have replacement sheet metal for this section.

Just looking for some insight for some planning purposes on my end.

I have done this same type of repair on B-bodies. What you have is not a difficult job at all. Remove the back glass and weld in some clean sheet metal, I would do that whole corner area. Form that section with new sheet metal. Tack weld a couple areas and test fit the glass as you go. Any areas that the glass does not fit fully flat can always be bumped down with a body hammer.

I'll be doing this shortly on my 67 fastback.
Did it on my 58 Coronet, not difficult, cut out the rot and make a few patches.

It will be rotted more than it appears to be, obviously, and some areas may be difficult to get to and repair.

Might consider 68 trim, clips, and window seal as well.

Somewhere around the 17 minute mark I made some patches, if interested. Not a professional, just trying to get it together.

@GMP440 is right when he says to replace it with clean sheet metal. That is the ONLY way to fix it. I have mentioned this many times before, but there is a guy on YouTube who shows us how to repair rust with new sheet metal. I have been watching him for several years, and I have learned a LOT. The show is called Fitzee's Fabrications. Lots of guys here watch him.
