I seem to remember the rule is 1/2 pound per horsepower per hour. So that would be 700 x .5 =350 pounds. At 6 pounds per gallonUS that would be 58 gallons per hour. Add a tad for reserve; say 10%, and that comes to about 64gph.
Does that sound right?
Well 64gph is about 64/(60x60) x 140 =2.49 ounces per second.
As a streeter, you could probably get by with a lot less, cuz where you gonna floor that beast for more than 6 seconds atta time? Shoot, she won't even be working hard 'til the 4th second!
In 6 seconds at full power,she could burn 2.49 x 6 =14.94 ounces
But you won't be at full power for the entire 6 seconds will you? No you likely won't be at full power for more than a couple of seconds.Unless you have some serious traction, and a high stall. Then maybe three or possibly as much as four seconds. So four seconds at full power and 2 at say 50% power that might total to 12.5 ounces. You wanna guess how much fuel fits in a pair of those 1050 bowls?
Doing the math on 12.5 ounces per 6 seconds, brings the gph down to 53.6
Please do the math for yourself.
6 seconds will put you deep into speeding territory.
If you run a bypass regulator, this math won't work.
