Recommendations for wiper motor.

Who does everyone recommend for purchasing a 3 speed wiper motor for 1972 Dodge Dart? I am looking for a rebuilt/refurb motor. Doesn’t have to be numbers matching just want a good motor to install.

I have restored them but man they are a pain in the butt to work on. For my current restoration I just bought a NOS one. The three speed motors are no longer available from parts stores since there are not enough cores out there. You can still get the two speed's.

I used my 3-speed motor for a core on on my 2-speed. Looks like I should have just paid the core charge. Did not know then why things were not working, wrong linkage. Got a 2-speed switch and ballast resister, new wiring harness, now back to stock.
Lesson, find another 3-speed, or you get to change everything.

Yes, 3 speed and 2 speed linkage are different.

Follow the link that @clementine attached in post # 6. That is Topher McGinnis, and he is close by to you. He is either in Lincolnton or Cherryville. I picked up a few of his cards at the Farmington Mopar show last month, and plan on getting him to do all my wiper motors from now on.

There seem to be a lot of shady people who do wiper motor restoration. I know there were at least a couple that were scammers. Im not familiar with Topher, hopefully he is legit.

Before he passed away, I sent a few to Jules D'Addio in . He was the best. There are several good people doing it now, and Topher is one of them. My friends, John and Geoff McBryde speak very highly of him...so that's good enough for me.

You can modify your two speed linkages to make them fit a three speed motor. I have seen a kit to do it.

If you can't find the correct wiper motor, whether it's 2 speed or 3 speed, it can fairly easily be bench tested, diagnosed and repaired. My thoughts show that you cannot just replace a 3 speed motor with a 2 speed and vice versa without changing other components. That's usually an expensive adventure.
If your 2 speed motor fails, for example, and you put a motor trader 3 speed in it's place and don't change the crank arm from a 2 speed to a 3 speed crank arm and replace the switch as well, it can "bind", overheat the motor and will function usually in only one speed and will park only where you turn the switch off at...and vice versa.
It's usually less expensive and less frustrating to diagnose the problem with the motor and repair it and eliminate the problem.

To do a swap from 2 speed to 3 speed in an A body, you need the motor with crank arm, the piece of linkage from the crank arm to the drivers side pivot, and the 3 or variable speed switch. The wiring is the same plug between both. If you've got good sense, you'll change ALL of the plastic bushings while it's apart!

Ya know what, the OP didn't say if wanted to rebuild his 3-speed, or if he was wanting to switch from a 2-speed to a 3-speed.
