refurbishing radio dash speaker

I noticed that someone had a speaker core for sale on eBay and the item description said that the speaker core and cover would have to be refurbished. Is this type of repair desireable or do most people go with the repops?? The cone and cover on my speaker is shot and I was wondering which route to take.

Most people will just replace the speaker with an aftermarket one, unless of course you need the Chrysler part numbers to be on the magnet and prefer the crappy sound that came with a stock speaker. You can also mount two 3 1/2 inch speaker in a plate to replace the 4x10 speaker like I did.

There are people who "recone" speakers, a friend of mine used to do that. Unless you are a "concourse" restore freak, usually easier/ cheaper to just buy a replacement
