Refused to re-install motor into Yellow Barracuda with black engine bay !

You know, things have changed some.. My Slant gets a lot of attention at shows, and I think that car in yellow is more interesting with the Slant. More interesting :thumbsup:than a V8 because everybody has a V8.

Yea and that is what my dogs all say!!! I just use the leaks to let me know it still has some oil!!!
But, I admit a body colored engine bay really makes the Mopar!!
If you can get it to leak just right, you only have to change the filter every few months!
1.6 OZ of leakage per day is the perfect amount.
5 quarts=160 Fluid OZ/90 days=1.6 Oz per day

God bless you, Sir, for doing His work in the engine bay. The owner will show that off with pride for years to come. Your gift will be appreciated more every time he and his son show it off!

My slant got lots of attention in the eighties, it wasn't the same as every other car, unexpected....
I don't care how many people look, it was under powered and anemic.... I swapped in a V8 in the early 90's and have zero regrets..

Owner spent 7k on what? To get the frame rail rust repaired?

No, it was there to have most the front end stuff, that they could find, replaced exhaust, all the brakes, m/c, drums, hoses, etc.

They never knew about the rust till the alignment wouldn't hold.

I was a bit shocked at the price, but I've been retired over a decade, - things change .

I am so backwards, back in the 90s I pulled the 426 hemi and sold it, and dropped in a 440 for $100 out of the boneyard! No regrets!

And back about 2001 I think it was, I bought a 68 440 GTX that the owner was a mechanic in Ca. and he moved to St.Joe, MO. and opened a garage. He had the car it in an article in Car Craft or something in the 80s, 90s, he had a MX top end on it. I pulled all that off, the high stall convertor, sold all that, put it all back stock, and sold the car. Go figure.

Seems like you're making money by undoing the people that take a build too far!

I have never been a racer. I had had a couple of hemi cars, stock form seems to be just a tad faster than a 440 or even a well thought out 383, and hemis are for racers and $ guys which I never was. The 68 GTX 440 with the MX top end was a hoot, but I should/could have used to make a MX clone (before someone thought up the word "clone!"), but the $$ from that came i :BangHead: n handy. (Wonder where those $ are today!?)

I was priced out of racing in the 90's but I continue to creep up on that gone too far with it and spent too much time and money line.
Backing off a bit as I get closer to being too old to build them anymore...
a 500 HP engine sounds like an awesome idea until it's wore out and needing replaced....

I've owned an original Hemi Challenger... No desire to own another, Owned a couple 440-6 cars, Those are fun... Far as I'm concerned most Hemi cars are all about bragging rights, few really get driven & fewer still get driven hard... That has some changed since the late 70's early-mid eighties when there were no new hemis to be had.... But still remains largely the case... I'm 100% happy with a strong small block, even more so with a manual trans.. But the /6 is just to anemic to keep me entertained....
