Hi All, I just bought the glass part of the side mirror to replace my old broken mirror on my 69 Valiant. Has anyone ever replaced just the glass part? I'm thinking it probably just pops out and I glue the glass in.

Thanks!

It wont just pop out. The glass is glued to a very thin aluminum pan that isn't nearly as strong as the glue. You will bend the aluminum, maybe even before you break the glass.
Some say a heat gun will soften the glue. Worth a try I suppose. Good luck with it.

i just bust the glass out and gooped up the back side of the mirror with seam sealer. pushed it in and put a wood working clamp lightly on it. i did mine a long time ago. i powder coated the mirror mount on mine so i tore a couple of them apart to get the parts i needed.

I poured some laquer thinner in a small dish and soaked the glass part of the mirror in it. After an hour or so the glue loosened up and it came out easily. Didn't affect the chrome at all either.
