When I built the 408, there was minimal bore wear, except the very end of piston travel at the top. Is there a difference between the stock ring height ( top ring) on a stock piston, compared to a kb107 piston? As measured from the piston pin? If it is lower, that would really help increase the chances of using a stock bore piston, saving some $$.

The KB hypers are known to have a higher top ring height than standard. I would expect this for the KB107's, and it shows it that way in their online illustration/pix. So that is going the wrong way for your idea....
