I click on an item, I add or aubtract an item, suddenly the previous items I have sorted change their shipping location origin.

Has anyone figured it out?

It’s like playing chess with a cheater where you have to turn your back from the board and all the pieces have been moved.

Add or remove one thing right before your ready to sign off on the purchase and it all goes to ****!!

This is a great test of patience and I am failing at it.

I need help selecting items in rockauto and keeping the selected items origin point of shipping from changing.

Multiple warehouses I'm guessing so they're trying to bundle
The opposite of that.
It happens randomly.
You might add 1, 2, then add another instead of splitting that item from two warehouses, other items now change location. Reminds me of Mopar front end alignment.
The software won’t let you go backwards either.
I have started out 16 different times and one specific part has started out from three different locations within the same 20 minutes.

I figured out a weird partial solution though, just now.

Start over in private internet mode.
I got 6 things to all come from the same location. Which was impossible before.

I am beginning to believe that the algorithm is designed to trick you into believing that parts come from multiple warehouses (sometimes) in order to falsely mark up shipping costs.

It truly appeared that way.

Interesting

I gave up on RA. Success rate of the part fitting was very low.
I gave up on them simply due to their shipping costs. Not entirely their fault, but when I can get the same part at NAPA, or O'Reilly's, for the same (or maybe a little more) cost, if I'm willing to wait a day or three... with no shipping fees....

I've never had an issue with Rock Auto. Always shipped fast, and the right part. I like all the different brands/options on each part, pick your own quality... lol Shipping eats up some of the cost savings, but it does show up to your door.

i don't care for Rock Auto. Every part I've bought was a crap shoot; some fit, some didn't. The worst experience was paying to have their struts installed that lasted ONE month before falling apart and doing $3000 damage to my truck. Never again.

You gotta be careful about counterfeit parts from Rockauto. For most manufacurers, RA is not an authorized dealer. With that comes a risk. I've received a counterfeit Bosch O2 sensor from them and when I looked into it, it seems like others have received fake Walbro pumps and other parts as well. If you order from them, check your parts out very well. If it's anything important, it's always best buying from an authorized dealer.

Yep ill have 2 things in cart shipping from 1 spot(same w/house), add a 3rd item and now it ships from 3 different places lol.
Its a actually a fun game, just gotta prioritize what you need.

On one particular purchase I matched RA and Doctor Diff, part for part including shipping. Guess who was cheaper?

If you have enough cart to get free shipping at Summit they can beat RA too.

Rock Autos profit is in the shipping . It’s obvious when you order 4 common parts and they all come from different warehouses. There is no way a major retailer selling to millions of people only stocks 1 of each item per warehouse! I only order from them if it’s a large order .
I got 4 Bosch 02 sensorfrom them . Didn’t order them or pay for them but I got them …lol
I once ordered a set (16) of chrome moly retainers from Summit and they sent me 16 boxes of them ! Lol

RA has the cheapest prices and cheap shipping up here. I don't know how they do it. The only thing that hurts them is parts coming from multiple warehouses which i get. I will generally cross shop against Amazon. I find RAs parts lists to be accurate and i usually look for brand names. All the crap car parts i have bought come from Amazon when i get lowest cost or Classic Industries.

Amazon has quite the reputation for counterfeit name brand products, not just car parts. It is nice when the manufacturer has an Amazon store so you know it's authentic.

I see RA still hasn't fixed their description on pushrods for a 1962 VW 1300cc engine . what they send is NOT what is pictured. OH wait, I have an instore credit . After them eating the bill for me sending the wrong **** back that they sent, (quantitity discrepancy, 1 not 8 and wrong part), they corrected it by sending 8 of THE WRONG PART. AND again, send it back, but 50 50 freight split. Done with my vent.

,

I only used RA once, and it worked out very nicely. I bought a brand new Bosch starter for less than a rebuilt one from a local parts store.

Rock Auto is a broker, they have a deal with multiple suppliers and everyone gets a piece of the pie that you pay for.

i had a purchase of$438,i returned the items, minus the orig. shippings fees and the new return shipping fees i got back $340.never again

In 20 years of buying from RA I have had very few problems, and I have bought lots of parts for multiple different vehicles. The few issues that I can recall, once I was shorted 1 spark plug, called them and it was sent priority mail the same day, and a couple years ago I ordered a pair of patch panels for my Bronco, received one correct one and one for a 2011 Chevy Silverado. Contacted them via email, sent pictures they requested to verify that the part was incorrect, and they sent the correct one the next day. I still have the part for the Silverado since return shipping was more than the part is worth.
More recently I ordered an intake manifold for my 4.6 Thunderbird, and, following the instructions on the site, also ordered the proper gasket set designed for the application. When the parts arrived, the intake already had all of the correct gaskets included and installed. I inquired about returning the unnecessary gasket kit, but the shipping costs are nearly equivalent to the price of the kit, so it went on a shelf. My last several orders have been delivered at least one day earlier than scheduled, so whether it is designed to make the buyer happy or just good fortune, I'm not going to question it.

I have had good success with Rock Auto. I have ordered several different Mopar brand items over the years for my 2005 Ram that have been discontinued from the factory. I was glad to get them. Everything looked to be actual Mopar brand parts.
