I am installing my new push rods and adjusting the lash for the break in on my 340/420.
I always start out marking my adjusters at the 12:00 position with the adjuster fully seated. Then I count the turns on the adjuster while I am adjusting the cold lash, and I write down the adjuster turns for my notes. All my adjusters are now within ¾ of a turn to each other for reference.
In the past, I have had the same adjusters fall within 1-1/4 turn of each other when the lash setup was finished. This time, I wanted to give a little more effort and I ordered different length pushrods to get the adjusters a little closer to each other. At this point, I could even swap out a couple of the pushrods to get the adjusters to fall within ½ of a turn to each other, but I am not sure it's worth the effort at this point since all the valves are now adjusted.
My question is: when your adjusters are all setup, do you worry about how far out each adjuster is TO EACH OTHER when you are done? Do you try and order your pushrods so that all of the adjusters are within ½, ¾, or a full turn to each other, or do you only care that the lash is set, and you have some adjustments in either direction when finished and your adjusters are not turned out too far.
Just curious how far you take the setup, and thanks!
