rust removal

As I removed some more parts from the interior of a 65 barracuda, I found heavy rust on the hinge to the section that folds down to seperate the trunk from the interior. there is no rust through on the body, just the hinge itself. I thought I could strip it and paint it before putting in new carpet.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If you are asking how to remove the rust.....a black biscuit wheel or wire wheel on a 3/8" drill will do the trick. Gotta remove the rust before painting.

Grind off as much rust as you can with a wire wheel or a samding disk in an angle grinder then put some rust inhibitor on it.
