Hi everyone, I have a A/C issue, hoping to get some insight on.

Car: 1970 Duster 225 factory air V2 compressor single groove

I had a bearing noise traced it down to the AC compressor, pulled the clutch pulley off and found the bearing was totally obliterated so I couldn't get any numbers off of it. Went to my local o'reilly's they found a bearing that their system said would fit but it was too tall so I couldn't get the retaining clip in, I searched eBay and found a NOS pulley that fits, but the coil is two small the pulley won't fit over the coil. I'm searched high and low and only parts I've been able to find are for it two groove system, haven't been able to find a coil that'll fit or that looks like it'll fit.

The pictures that are included on the post are of my old pulley there's no part number on it I have no idea what it's off of, can anybody ID what it is off of? I'm back to square one trying to find a bearing for that pulley well simultaneously still looking for a coil that might work.

Any help would be terrific, as this is my first classic car that I plan on daily driving and not restore, just trying to get it back to a solid runner. Another question the people that have been working on these Mopars for the past 50 years would it be easier to just remove the air conditioning completely, or just keep scouring the Internet hoping for the part that I need to surface.

Thanks, as always y'all are awesome (sorry for the essay)

Can you see any part numbers on the compressor itself. There are two numbers that are on eBay. 2521824 single groove pulley with bearing and 1769318 compressor clutch bearing. Before you order any parts, take various dimensions and contact eBay sellers.

I have the part number for the compressor,
3484252 V2 production date 9-15-69. I already bought the pulley (2521824) as it is the correct pulley, the other part number is on the coil that came off with the old pulley, the inner diameter of the old coil is too small (part #2812840), maybe 1/8th in max, but appears to be the right depth. The bearing part # Townsend gave me, i contacted a ebay seller looking for dimensions of it, as the ones I have found at my local O'reillys/ rockauto are all for the 2 groove pulleys.

I'm relatively new to cross referencing obsolete, older part numbers, forgive me for any Idiocy I may convey.

As always, y'all are awesome!

If you have already solved your problem, the following will just be good reference material. Several issues need to be addressed. #2812840 stamped on the coil is not in Chrysler's part system, even going back to the 1960's. Occasionally Chrysler will put numbers on parts that are not the actual catalog part number. Also its possible the clutch pulley and coil are aftermarket. According to the Chrysler parts catalog #2521824 pulley is used with #2097105 coil, which is hard to find. This coil was used from 1964 thru 1972 on six cylinder cars. Maybe someone has a spare six cylinder compressor sitting around and would sell the coil or the coil and pulley. The bearing in the clutch pulley #1769318 was used in all RV-2 compressors from 1964 thru 1980. Same bearing used on single and double groove pulleys. #1769318 bearing interchanges with Timken #5206dd, New Departure #995206u and BCA #5206ksse. The most common bearing that Chrysler used was the New Departure brand. There is problem you may have if you decide to replace the bearing in the original pulley. If it is an aftermarket clutch pulley, then the oem bearing might be a slightly different size. #1769318 bearing dimensions are bore size 30mm,outer diameter 62mm and width or thickness 27mm. Of course if nothing works you can always replace the entire compressor with coil and pulley. Good Luck.

I have only solved half my problem, but with the information you provided me I can finish solving my problem. Townsend you are a lifesaver, thank you so much. Thank you so much for providing the part numbers.
