Hello - I need some help - I was cleaning up my tranny (4 speed) and
i took what I thought was a drain plug out but opps it was the reverse
shift detent ball and spring and I heard a little "TINK" as the detent ball
fell into the tranny - So I took off the shifter plate and fished out the bearing with a magnet. I put the shift plate back on and now I cant get first gear or reverse - Does anyone know what I did wrong? Do the shift detent balls on the shift plate have to be in a certain detent when I re-install the plate? I know both were in the center position when I put the plate back on. any help is greatly appreciated the service manual sure doesnt have much about it.

Thanks, Bill
