I’ve been thinking about modifying the gate on my OEM forward pattern, console shifter.
Did this many years ago on another car, so I’ve been doing some recent research on FABO re modifying the D & 2 position detents.
Prior to going down that path, I’d be interested to hear some feedback on the operation of ShiftRGate - the good & the bad including whether these should or can be improved on?
I’m also wondering whether there are any issues related to ShiftRGate’s lineal gate layout as opposed to the OE gate which seems to be radially arranged around the shifter pivot point?
Appreciate any feedback or guidance.

Mine works fine.....been using it for years for a reverse pattern.
The only issue (when drag racing) is the need to remember to NOT push the top shifter button or you could easily skip second.

Here is an older thread about it. Shift-R-Gate

I had a slapstick in my 73 Challenger but can't remember if neutral was locked out when manually shifting? My current gate (previous owner installed) works like a slapstick but can be slipped into neutral if not careful when manually shifting.

Thx for link Woody.... i find it a little comical nobody seemed to like that gate lol. My car is an 11-12 second "fun" car....just an avenue for me to get my ya-yas out. I would consider a different setup for any serious racer....of course, the quicksilver shifter mentioned in that years old link would not be in the running either. :steering:

I might have to look at designing my own radius gate version and have it cut out on a laser!
