Unless it's just too large, I always ship by USPS to Canada.

I use postal (usps) or fed ex.

fed ex is hooked up with canada post now. So their rates are usually the same when shipping out of canada because they use the same trucks.

I use the post office when dealing over the border...

I got burned by FedEx/UPS before. Fool me once....

Do you guys get stuck with FedEx going from the US to Canada like UPS?

Yes USPS or Canada Post. UPS screwed me once.
Some members from the US won't ship USPS as their are extra forms to fill out?
Either way at least Dougs link gives us a plan b amd stop the UPS gang bang

As in customs forms? It's 1 form - either a small single form or 4 copy form that uses a carbon copy. Do it online and it's a lot easier than going to the PO. I do it online all the time for both domestic and foreign shipping.

How can anyone be surprised by the outrageous fees UPS charges? How else are they going to pay for all the well maintained brown trucks ripping around (have you ever seen one that looks tired or beaten up or dirty?). Plus they have to pay for a brown uniform (socks too) for each employee to wear. They gotta rake the cash in somehow to fund all that and make a profit.

Fed Ex is no different than UPS. A couple of weeks after delivery an invoice for tax/customs/brokerage will be in your mail box. Also for Canadians, FeeBay through the Global Shipping Program is in bed with Pitney Bowes and is now charging buyers/bidders tax/customs/brokerage fees up front in the item listing. Don't get me started on this one! :wack:

I use an outfit called Kinek alternate delivery.. They are a receiver at a US Border city that'll receive, sign, and hold a package for a month for $5 each pkg..

I'll order up a mess of parts ,, or just one nec part,, The wife and I will cross the border,, spend an evening at a nice RV Casino/Resort,, then we can return to Canada with $800 each of duty free stuff, including auto parts etc..

Here's a link to Ontario Kinek locations...

https://www.kinek.com/find-a-kinekpo...rProvinceId=55

hope it helps... cheers..

PS,, I also have a shipper avail.. that is bonded and brings stuff to the local airport,, and you go to the shipper, get docs,, walk a coupla hundred yards to the Customs Office in the Airport,, pay nec sales taxes,, no duty on classic car stuff.. return to shipper with docs,, pay $17.50 for up to 5 lbs(?).. and more as you can expect.. here's a link just for reference,, that may help you find a bonded receiver near you....

This ALSO helps get past that "won't ship to Canada" B.S.., cuz you have it shipped and signed for at a U.S. Address...

cheers..

I also use USPS. The only other one is I Parcel (UPS)when I order from Summit, but the rates are way better when ordering from them, other wise I avoid UPS.

I'll let everyone know how I make out. As it stands now UPS wants $ 73 for customs and brokerage fees.

As promised here are the results. The original C.O.D amount UPS wanted was 163.35. By self clearing it myself I paid 64.00 in taxes and I now have my package.:blob:
