I wonder if it refers to how low the intake sits on the front and rear raised sections of the block?
Some call the rear section the "China Wall".
Today I installed an intake on my 360 and helped Rich with his 5.9/408. Both intakes were the Edelbrock RPM Air Gap. Mine needed the cork gaskets on the front and rear wall to get the holes in the heads to line up with the intake.
With his engine, the cork gaskets put the intake too high and threading the intake bolts into the heads looked like it could be difficult and maybe even damage the threads in the heads. We had to pull the cork gaskets and put a thick bead of RTV on the front and rear wall. If there is a thinner gasket for that, it would be a cleaner option.
