Show Us Pictures of 2nd Generation Barracudas

Thanks for the compliments masnart.

I like the wheels on that burgundy fast back above on post 748, the one under the Spanish gold notchback.
Wish I could bolt a set on my car to see what they wold look like.

I'm with you on those wheels. Actually, the reason I have these pictures is because I really liked the wheels. I even called the guy who had this car for sale to find out exactly what the wheels and tires specs were. He never answered the phone or replied back. I am pretty sure that the front tires are :

P205/70R15 (I blew up the photo)

and wheels are American Racing Torq-Thrust ''D'' Chrome

Wheel widths??? Rear tire size???

I may get a set of those if I can get deep enough backspace as I need 7.5" backspace on a 10" wide wheel and those wheels in the pic look pretty darn close to that.
I need to call them and find out.

Here is the guy's phone number who was selling the car. Maybe he will answer your call.

I love the wheel/tire combo on your car now, but it will look a different type of bad with those wheels.

Now time to go back to our Snowmobile club party.... Drinks for all the fish!

I've Been dying to show the goods in this thread!

Finally had a sunny day here in Seattle so I got the Cuda all washed up and looking pretty. Drove out to the middle of nowhere for some pics. It's been a while since I've posted progress pics on FABO, I'm not even sure what all is new on the car since last time. Enjoy!

Note: I was there for about two minutes when I heard another muscle car down the road. I thought "great, it's gonna be a frickin' Camaro and I'm gonna have to listen to some chevy boy talk about how great his car is." I couldn't believe it when the car came around the corner and it was this '68 notchback. Unbelievable! What are the odds of another notchback, vinyl-top Barracuda pulling up out in BFE? This was one of maybe two other cars that came by in the hour or so that I was there. I don't think the owner is a member here but we chatted for a while, nice guy for sure.

Hey Blackhand. Glad you posted. It was worth the wait! What a bad looking Notch. I really like the stance, color, and side stripe.

A few questions:

What big block you running?

What tire sizes are you running front/rear?

Did you move the rear springs in and/or tub the rear?

Where did you get those kick panel speaker combo? Do they interfear much with foot room?

Beautiful car! And a cool story about taking the pictures. It is a small world they say.

Very nice race fish. What you have for a motor? What do you run the quarter in?

Liked to see some more shots of your car if you get the time.

Thank you, thank you! She's a work in progress but owning her is a blast! :glasses7:

Engine is a 1978 400ci. It will be a 470 stroker one day but for now I'm having fun seeing just how much power I can get out of a low-compression bottom end. Last summer she ran a 14.30 in the quarter on street tires and an under-sized 600 cfm carb. I've added a 750 Demon, Performer RPM manifold and have some slicks this year, hoping for 13's once I put some new gears in the rear.

Wheels and tires are brand new, just put on last weekend! Rears are 275/60-15 and fronts are 225/60-15. Wheels are Summit brand drag-star knockoffs, 15x8 with 5 1/2" backspacing in the rear and 15x7 with 4 1/2" backspacing up front. The backspacing in the rear baffles me because I thought a-bodies used 4 1/4" backspacing, must be a b-body axle? The wells have not been tubbed and the springs are in their stock location. It's a tight squeeze but I have had no problems so far. It took very, very careful measuring. I'm using Mancini XHD leaf springs for now, calvert mono-leafs and caltrac bars someday in the distant future. As it is the back end sits up a little high for my liking. May flip the front hangers to bring it down some. Also, my new rear tires are 28" diameter, old tires were 25" diameter. I need to change my rear end ratio ASAP, this 3.23 sure-grip is killing me!! I'm thinking 3.73 should be good to go.

I made the speaker pods by hand and I'm quite pleased with the results. I hand-fiberglassed them and used a metric f-ton of body filler to get them nice and smooth. Sprayed them with some truck bed liner to give them a nice plastic look. They look great in person, not out of place at all. I paid close attention when I built them to give me room to slip my foot behind the driver side pod so I can easily operate the headlight foot switch!
